In Memory of John Leet

On Tuesday, July 14th, John Leet, a local swing dancer and a close friend to many in the scene, passed away as the result of a motorcycle accident. John was a regular at many of the local dances and often commented that dancing changed his life. Being a musician, John had a passion for swing music that extended to his dancing. He would enthusiastically share musical knowledge and tell us about new songs and artists that he ran across. When it came to dancing, he was evangelical in spreading the word about his love for the swing scene. In the past few years, it was unusual if we didn’t see him at a dance. If he wasn’t dancing to every song, he would be watching his favorite dancer, Hurley, on the dance floor.

It was a pleasure to have John in our classes over the last few years. His enthusiasm made teaching fun an rewarding. We will miss him and the swing scene will miss him. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.
